Gina Mertikas was born in 1983 in Ottawa, Ontario. Having spent her
entire life surrounded by art in her home, and watching her mother
Katerina Mertikas paint, Gina has always had a creative nature and a
keen interest in painting.
A mostly self-taught artist, Gina uses primarily acrylic
paint and tries to express the beauty of life in her work. Using a wide
range of colours to explore a variety of emotions in her work, Gina’s
art attracts many people and conveys beauty and passion.

Most of Gina’s work remains untitled, because Gina does
not want to suggest a certain image in her art, but rather wants the
client to interpret it in whichever way they see it.
Along with her abstract paintings, Gina has also expanded
into children’s art. The birth of her nephew and the lack of children’s
art that was both suitable for children’s rooms but that yet remained
fun and sophisticated, is what drove Gina to attempt her hand at
children’s work. Her children’s art has been very successfull amongst
families and they brighten up any room and bring joy to the children.
Gina’s abstract paintings as well as her children’s work,
have proved to be very successful in the Ottawa area, and she continues
to find new inspiration for her paintings with each passing day.
